Connecticut DUI Laws – 1st Offense

First offense results in a DMV enforced driver’s license suspension for 90 days plus up to 1 year more  depending on the court, fines from $500-$1,000, and a jail term of 2 days-6 months with a 2 day mandatory minimum, or 6 months suspended incarceration pending completion of 100 hours of community service.  If BAC at the time of arrest was .16% or higher, license suspension is increased to 120 days.  If BAC test was refused, license suspension is increased to 6 months.

Connecticut DUI Laws – 2nd Offense

Second offense within 10years results in a DMV enforcdd driver’s license suspension for 9 months plus up to 3 years more depending on the court, fines from $1000-$4,000, and a jail term up to 2 years, or 120 days mandatory minimum plus 100 hours of community service.  If BAC at the time of arrest was .16% or higher, license suspension is increased to 10 months.  If BAC test was refused, license suspension is increased to 1 year.

Connecticut DUI Laws – 3rd Offense

Third offense within ten years results in a DMV enforced driver’s license suspension for 2 years plus probable permanent revocation depending on the court, fines from $2000-$8,000, and a jail term up to 3 years, or 1 year mandatory minimum plus 100 hours of community service.  If BAC at the time of arrest was .16% or higher, license suspension is increased to 2.5 years.  If BAC test was refused, license suspension is increased to 3 years.
