First offense results in a driver’s license suspension for 90 days, fines up to $700, DUI surcharges of minimum $160, and a jail term up to 2 years. License reinstatement requirements are; Alcohol and Driving Education program, Treatment Assessment, and a Therapy program.
Vermont DUI Laws – 2nd Offense
Second offense results in a driver’s license suspension for 18 months, fines up to $1,500, DUI surcharges of minimum $160, a jail term up to 2 years, and 200 hours minimum Community Service, or 60 minimum consecutive hours of imprisonment. License reinstatement requirement is an Alcohol and Driving Rehab program.
Vermont DUI Laws – 3rd Offense
Third offense results in a driver’s license suspension for life (may be restored after 3 years Total Abstinence from drugs and alcohol, plus a $500 reinstatement fee), fines up to $2,500, DUI surcharges of minimum $160, a jail term up to 5 years, and 400 hours minimum Community Service, or 1000 minimum consecutive hours of imprisonment. Vehicle may be subject to forfeiture.
